At Resend, design isn’t just skin-deep — it’s a core part of how they build trust with developers. As a platform that streamlines transactional and marketing email for modern development teams, Resend knows their audience values clarity, precision, and detail.
For founding designer Zeh Fernandes, making those values tangible —especially for an abstract infrastructure product — meant reaching beyond flat design. So when it came time to reimagine Resend’s visual identity on the web, 3D interactivity wasn’t just a flourish. It became a strategy.
“We wanted to show our audience that we care about details. Design is part of our product. With Spline, we can create real, interactive 3D objects that make our infrastructure feel tangible.”

The cube that started it all
If you’ve visited Resend’s homepage, you’ve seen it: a sleek, interactive black Rubik's cube rotating on the landing page. It’s not just eye-catching. It’s become iconic — so much so that Resend had real-life versions 3D-printed and sent to their early customers. That cube? Built in Spline.

“We started with a version from the Spline Community, then evolved it over time,” says Zeh. “We’ve updated its materials, lighting, and style to reflect how our brand has grown. And the best part? It’s all the same file.”
By leveraging Spline’s seamless React integration, Resend’s team was able to embed the cube directly into their website without writing low-level 3D code.
"Before Spline, we would have needed a developer just to handle the 3D integration. Now we can work in parallel. Designers can focus on crafting assets, and engineers don’t have to rebuild them from scratch."

A 3D design system for marketing
The cube was just the beginning. Spline quickly became a go-to tool for Resend’s marketing assets — from animated icons to hero compositions that respond to key presses.
During their initiative “Launch Weeks” the team uses Spline to create 3D visuals tailored to each day’s release. For example, when unveiling a new light mode, they built a radiant crystal form bathed in light — designed and rendered entirely in Spline.
Resend also takes advantage of Spline's event system to add playful interactive details in their embedded assets — like mouse and keyboard-triggered animations — that add delight for eagle-eyed users.
Resend’s brand, shaped and expressed through 3D design
"3D helps us communicate abstract ideas. It brings materiality to our digital infrastructure. It makes our product feel real. Developers notice those things. It becomes part of the experience"

A living visual identity
Resend’s 3D design system continues to evolve, and Spline remains at the center of it.
“We’re doubling down on materiality,” Zeh says. “It’s helping us visualize something intangible, like infrastructure. And if Spline continues to push quality — especially materials — we’ll keep expanding how we use it.”
3D icons from Resend’s visual system
Whether it's a sleek homepage visual, a launch week animation, or a set of 3D icons, Resend’s visual identity has found a creative partner in Spline.
"It's more than decoration. It’s how we show we care about the details. And that’s something our users feel."
